    WRONG! this phrase was the title of a Rick Dees song in 1984, and was used in The Breakfast Club in 1985, three years before the Simpsons debuted in 1988

    Yes Sky..You can say ” Go fly a kite”..It has similar meaning as “Eat my shorts” They are both insults.

    To James.. Thanks for comment but if you read my post carefully you will see that the subtitle is “Another neologism from The Simpson’s TV Show”. To qualify for a neologism, the phrase must be put into common usage which the Simpsons’ show did and your other references, although they may have used the phrase earlier, were not put into common usage until the Simpsons’ TV show.
