    Hi Lewis, thank you for your podcast. I have a question to ask that can we use idioms and slang in writing,especially in some examinations, such as CET6 or TEM4…or it would be better to use them in oral English? your podcast also is a good way to practice our listening. I am very appreciate it. sincerely.

    Hi Zhang.. Idioms/slang are used mostly for speaking and not writing. You can use idioms in informal writing to friends or any informal situation but not usually in formal academic writing nor in such exams as you mentioned.
